Biography
Jubaida Sakin is an academician and researcher. With over three years of teaching experience and ten years of research engagement in legal and social science fields, she integrates doctrinal legal analysis with policy-oriented and interdisciplinary perspectives. She currently serves as a Lecturer in Law at the World University of Bangladesh. She previously served as a Lecturer in Law at the European University of Bangladesh. She also served as a fellow (teaching) at Teach for Bangladesh where she gained in-hand experience in teaching-learning methodology.
Ms. Sakin holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Eastern University, graduating with distinction of Summa Cum Laude in both degrees. She was awarded multiple academic honors, including the Award of Merit for achieving the highest CGPA in her honours and the Zinnater Noor Scholarship for academic excellence in her master’s studies. Moreover, she has achieved various Vice Chancellor’s Honor and Dean’s Honor Award. In addition to her legal education, she earned a Master’s of Education from BRAC University, graduating with Summa Cum Laude. Her interdisciplinary academic background informs her teaching methodology, curriculum design, and commitment to Outcome-Based Education (OBE).
Her research interests lie at the intersection of climate law and policy, sustainable development, public international law, refugee law and education. She has published in peer-reviewed journals on various topics. Her scholarly work reflects a strong engagement with Global legal perspectives and climate- vulnerable communities. Beyond academia, Ms. Sakin has contributed to policy research in professional settings. She served as a Research Fellow at The Centre for Climate Justice–Bangladesh (CCJ-B), where she worked on climate adaptation, sustainable development, and climate justice initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable populations and informing national and international policy discourse. She has also worked as a Research Associate in legal consultancy, contributing to legislative drafting, policy formulation, and regulatory analysis for sovereign states, governmental agencies, corporations, and international organizations.
Ms. Sakin has an active record of international academic engagement. She represented Bangladesh as a member of the champion team at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., twice in a row and later now serving is as an adjudicator in the Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds. She was selected as an ASIL–GW Law Scholar at the 111th Annual Meeting of the American Society of International Law, where she participated as one of a limited number of student scholars from around the world. She remains actively involved in moot court training, academic mentoring, and professional legal networks, including the International Law Student Association and the Network for International Law Students.
Through her teaching, research, and policy engagement, Ms. Sakin is committed to advancing climate- responsive legal scholarship, strengthening environmental governance frameworks, and mentoring the next generation of legal professionals.
