Biography
Dr.
Md. Tuhin Mia is an Assistant Professor of Law at the World University of
Bangladesh, where he has been serving in the Department of Law since 2023.
Alongside his teaching responsibilities, he contributes as a member of several
departmental and central committees of the university. He teaches a wide range
of law courses including Muslim Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Public
International Law, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, Laws of International
Organisations, and Laws of Refugees, Migrants and Stateless Persons. Before
joining WUB, he worked as a Lecturer at the European University of Bangladesh
for two years and earlier served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Ahmad
Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
Dr.
Tuhin holds a PhD in Law from IIUM, Malaysia where he researched on the legal
protection of Bangladeshi migrant workers in Malaysia and globally, focusing on
international migration standards and labour law. He was awarded the
prestigious Sejahtera Scholarship during his doctoral studies. He also earned a
Master of Comparative Laws degree from IIUM, a professional Masterβs in
Industrial Relations and Labour Studies from the University of Dhaka, and a
Bachelor of Laws. His expertise extends to international law more broadly with
a particular interest in the intersection of human rights, labour and
industrial relations, and international migration law. In his research, he
applies qualitative research methodologies which enable him to explore legal
issues in depth, incorporating socio-legal perspectives that highlight the
lived realities of vulnerable groups, particularly migrant workers.
Over
the years, Dr. Tuhin has published more than thirty research papers in reputed
international peer-reviewed journals, contributed over five book chapters, and
presented his work in conferences across different countries and universities.
His publications enjoy a growing citation record on Google Scholar reflecting
the recognition of his scholarship. He has organised and participated in
numerous seminars, workshops and academic dialogues both nationally and
internationally sharing his insights on pressing legal and social issues. He
currently serves as the Editor and Managerial Editor of two international
peer-reviewed journals and works as a voluntary reviewer for more than ten
journals worldwide. His academic contributions in the fields of international
labour migration, industrial relations, human rights and international law
demonstrate his continuing commitment to advancing both scholarship and
practice.
Beyond
academia, Dr. Tuhin is deeply connected to his community. He was born in Barguna district of southern Bangladesh
and remains committed to social and community activities for marginalized and
vulnerable populations. With a
strong belief in equity, fairness and justice, he envisions his role as an
educator, researcher and social activist dedicated to serving his home country.
His passion for travelling, reading and engaging with international news and
documentaries complements his academic life, while his dream remains to
enlighten society through knowledge, justice and social responsibility.
